What is stockpiling?

What is stockpiling? Why would you stockpile? These are questions that many people ask. The answer is very simple it saves you money! Stockpiling and couponing and smart shopping go hand in hand. Stockpiling is crucial to saving big on your grocery and drug store purchases. Most stockpilers follow a few simple rules. You wait until the items go on sale before purchasing them. Most items go on a 12 week cycle at most grocery stores. So, when it hits the lowest prices stock up! Which brings me to the next rule, always buy more than your family uses in a week. If you can buy enough to get you until the next sale which is usually 3 months. The other rule is always use coupons with the sale to make the most of the deal.

Now because of stockpiling you will need an area to store your items. Some have created small stores in there basement or garages with shelves lined with items. If that is not an option use your closets, cabinets and under your beds.

Some people keep list of items they have on hand. So that you know what you have and what you need to buy. Once you get your stockpile it is good idea to keep your food rotated. This way you don't let anything expire.

It does take a few months to get your stockpile to where it needs to be. Before you know it you will be "shopping" right at home from your own little "store".

  1. I don't stockpile to the extent in that pic - but the concept of stockpiling (buying lots of something - on serious sale - with a coupon) is how my pantry and freezer got filled! it's SO much cheaper to live by stockpiling, though it can take a while to build up a stash. YAY for STOCKPILING!!!
